The Order of Luminos
Warrior monks dedicated to doing the will of Luminos, The Order is a place for questing knights, repentant sinners, and idealistic warriors of good alike. Under the command of the High Marshall, The Order is dedicated to pursuing truth and justice in all realms - they give their lives that others may live in peace.
History of the Order
In the days when Olaran was young, the land was in chaos. While Alirion himself was a strong king, his descendants had to maintain with an iron fist the empire he had formed. Olaran’s neighbors needed little excuse to prey on the borders, keeping them under constant threat of invasion. While the rulers of Olaran had to look outward to protect their realm, the inner lands were plagued with raiders, injustice, and poverty. The plea for divine protection echoed across Olaran, leading to the establishment of a Holy Order. Heeding the call, a kind and righteous nobleman, Brona, presided over the land as the first High Priest of Luminos, turning his estate in the Fire Mountains into the great Temple of Luminos.
Yet the pilgrims needed protection, and the church of Luminos needed a strong arm. Responding to his father’s call, Tarthanian L’Rouche, the king’s fourth son, proposed a new order of warriors: the Knights of the Order of Luminos, bound not by borders or to a king, but by their commitment to protect the peoples of Adrasil. These knights, embodying the virtues of servitude and leadership, ventured where the king’s reach faltered, becoming beacons of hope, and guardians of the oppressed.
The Order of Luminos is an ancient organization whose members are dedicated to the service of others. These Warrior Monks and Questing Knights forswear earthly ambition and possessions in order to serve the highest principles of Luminos: Charity, Honor and Courage. Members of the order believe that they do the will of Luminos by defending the weak and helpless and serving the peoples of all lands. While the order had been extinct for years, the fervor of the High Priest of Luminos (may he rest forever in the Light of Luminos) drove him to reestablish the Order. Choosing the disgraced Killian of Lannock as his new servant and commander, the high priest brought back the Order as an alternative to exile for the former duke at the suggestion of the Lord High Chancellor. Now the Order’s strength burgeons anew, heralding a resurgence of valor and righteousness in a world shrouded in injustice.
The Order Culture and Look
Emblem: The Sun of Luminos
Culture: Inspired by historical warrior monks, questing Arthurian knights, the Fantasy Knight’s Watch, and Jedi, “The Order” is a group of warrior monks that serve Luminos and his servants. They wear brown and tan robes under their armor to exhibit their commitment to humility and self-effacement. The Order was founded by the Lord High Chancellor and the High Priest of Luminos, and is is led by the High Marshall, while each Marshalling Aspect (specialty or subclass) is led by a Marshall.
The Order is open to all combatant players. Currently there are no healer slots allowed for the Order of Luminos.
Equipment: ***Please note: Unlike other factions, The Order has minimum garb requirements and is allowed a much smaller selection of armor and weapons. All members of the order must have the required items***
Their colors are Tan, Brown and Natural Linen with the Golden Yellow sun emblem. (Details on colors in sections below). These humble colors keep them from pride. If they wear armor, it is steel plate painted white and padded gambesons only. They wear white painted Visored Barbute helms or similar rounded helmets.
For weapons, please take careful note of the options below. *You may equip yourself for one specialty only.*
The Dawn - “The Rising Blade”- Two-handed sword-wielding knights. This specialty represents the raising of the blade in defense of the stricken, and forsaking personal defense in the name of safeguarding the oppressed. Their direct principles leave less room for delicate negotiations and overly complicated politics. An Initiate (regular Order member) should pursue this Marshall Aspect if they prefer a more direct approach to combat, prefer less bulky armor, or prefer wielding a sword two-handed.
Weapons Required (Other swords may be approved on a case-by-case basis - email contact@weekendwarriorexperience.com):
The Zenith- “The Radiant Lance”- Spear and partisan-wielding knights. This specialty exemplifies the ability to strike from afar and uses a superior position as their best defense. Using the principles of a balance between attack and defense, these knights prefer a measured response in matters of diplomacy, and combat, in support of their noble endeavors. An Initiate who prefers supporting a line or taking a more tactical approach working within a group is best suited to this marshaling.
Weapons Required: (Other lances may be approved on a case-by-case basis - email contact@weekendwarriorexperience.com):
The Evenfall- “The Light Defiant”- Sword and shield-wielding knights. Representing the Argent Defender, the last of the light before the coming of the darkness. These knights stand as the bulwark against overwhelming odds and indomitable force, using armor and shield as their advantage in combat and stoic resolve in their diplomacy and negotiations. An Initiate that dons heavier armor and prefers fighting in the front line would find this the best route for their oath of service.
Weapons Required (Other swords may be approved on a case-by-case basis - email contact@weekendwarriorexperience.com):
