The Themisians

The Themisians are a disciplined foreign force who have sailed across the great sea and lately arrived in the Three Realms. Their expeditionary phalanx hails from an ancient and powerful empire, and they are ready to find new allies....

History of the Themisians

Across the ocean in a land of black sand deserts, craggy mountains, and long coastlines, an ancient empire has existed time out of mind. Long before the tribe later known as the Sea Lords left its shores, the Empire of Themisia was strong. A thousand years later, though beset by enemies and internal strife, Themisia still stands. While Themisia is known for many natural and cultural wonders, they are mostly known for their fierce fighting units: the Agema Phalanx.

One such phalanx under the leadership of Kallisto, Commander of the Expeditionary forces and the First Agema, has landed on the shores of Throi, and sworn alliance with the forces of King Torvin.

Discipline, honor, empire - the Phalanxes of Themisia are truly a force to be reckoned with.

The Themisian Culture and Look

Emblem: The Eclipsed Sun

Culture:  Aesthetically inspired by the style and equipment of a fantasy medieval Persia, the Themisian phalanx takes on many of the traits of Middle Eastern or Eastern European style medieval armor and dress. Their armor is always patinaed black or painted black, and consists of lamellar or mirror plate. Their specialized conical helmets and long spears make them easily recognizable on the battlefield. Their archers wear either black turbans, or turban-wrapped helmets. Culturally, they draw inspiration from the Moors, the Persians, and the various tribes of the Medieval Middle East while drawing tactical inspiration from the Greek phalanx of antiquity.

Equipment: ***Please note: Unlike other factions, The Themisians have minimum garb requirements and are allowed a much smaller selection of armor and weapons. All members of the Themisian forces must have the required items***

Equipment: Their colors are cream and black, with tan, brown, and gold accents. (Details on colors in sections below). They wear long flowing garments baggier pants and boots. Long, flowing cloaks are also encouraged. In addition to the required weapons/armor (see below) Themisians may wear splinted or plate bracers and greaves, leather or metal lamellar or mirror plate (in a darkened/black color scheme) and may carry short swords. Healers (known as “Honored Ones”) are mystic scholars as well as physicians, and wear black turbans or black veils beneath their healers hoods, and long flowing robes of white, cream, and charcoal grey. When serving their forces in the field, they may wear shorter robes for easier movement.

Rune son of Fain was born near the Ohahr Mines where his people mined and traded in copper and other precious goods from the mountains and worshipped a long-forgotten Themisian deity. At the age of thirteen, Rune was conscripted into the Themisian army to serve the Emperor as a pikeman.

After years of training and service in the capital city of Selumek, Rune climbed the ranks during the Scorched Campaign and through steadfast loyalty to the empire, Rune attained the rank of Salar (the name the Themisians give to their commanders).
