Commander Brandis

Leader of the Rangers

The son of a swordsmith, Brandis grew up in a small village near the Temple of Luminos. As a child he spent his time learning, how to survive life in the Fire Mountains, as well as the ways of a follower of Luminos.

It should come as no surprise that, as the son of a smith, the legend of the Sword of Hope always fascinated him. His quest eventually led him to the capital city of Olaran. It was here, in an ancient and crumbling tome, that he found the poem that would lead to the discovery of the Sword of Hope.

Armed with this secret knowlege, he made his way to Thriese, where the Atalanta, under the command of the Sea Lord Captain Kaiþera, was just about to set sail for Ithacus to aid in the search for the Sword of Hope. Brandis’ companions Nyx and Logan took the voyage with him, and when the three arrived in Ithacus they made their way to the Ranger encampment. Brandis, for reasons known only to himself, trusted the Ranger commander Rook Calloway more than the other faction leaders, so it was to him that he entrusted the secret of his knowledge. With the aid of the Rangers, Brandis used his information to locate the Sword of Hope, hidden under a great stone outcropping deep in a forest glade.

Returning in triumph to the Olar camp, Brandis surrendered the sword to the Rangers, who made him one of their own in gratitude. Brandis showed great martial skill and leadership during the year that followed, and was made a Captain of the Rangers. Following the Battle of the Thornwood, he received command of the Ranger forces, and returned with them to the borders where he set about organizing and strengthening their forces for the battles to come…
